About

Wilson Park is a charming green space on Mount Rushmore Road featuring beautiful flower gardens, open lawn, and tennis courts lined for pickleball. It sits just south of downtown Rapid City, making it an easy stop for visitors exploring the corridor between the city and Mount Rushmore. The park is well-maintained with plenty of picnic tables, shady spots, a gazebo, pergolas, and stone walkways that give it a distinctly garden-like feel. Additional amenities include a basketball court, a volleyball area, a baseball backstop, and a large enclosed off-leash dog area. In winter, the park offers free ice skating. Wilson Park hosts a range of events throughout the year, from art festivals to the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, drawing both locals and visitors. The annual Heritage Festival brings artists, crafts, food trucks, local drinks, and live music to the park each summer. Visitors have called it the most picturesque park in Rapid City, particularly when the flowers are in full bloom.
