1. Eligibility and Listing Claims

Things To Do in the Black Hills is a curated directory, not an open business marketplace. We showcase businesses that make a visitor's trip to the Black Hills memorable and unique — not businesses that could be found in any town across the country.

To be eligible for listing, a business or other attraction must:

Offer an experience, product, or service that is genuinely relevant to tourists and travelers in the Black Hills — attractions, dining, lodging, outdoor recreation, entertainment, arts and culture, tours, boutique and specialty shopping, and similar categories
Reflect the character, culture, or natural landscape of the Black Hills region

We do not list categories that primarily serve local, everyday needs rather than visitors — such as standard clothing retailers, shoe stores, thrift stores, grocery stores, banks, salons, auto shops, or other businesses not oriented toward the tourist experience.

We reserve sole discretion to determine whether a business qualifies for inclusion, and to decline or remove listings that do not align with the platform's purpose.

By claiming or managing a listing, you represent and warrant that:

You are the lawful owner, operator, or authorized representative of the business or entity
You have the authority to submit and manage content on behalf of that business
All submitted information is accurate, current, and not misleading

We reserve the right to verify ownership and revoke access if claims cannot be substantiated.

2. Content Accuracy and Responsibility

You are solely responsible for the content you provide, including:

Business descriptions
Hours of operation
Amenities and services
Contact details and location

All information must be truthful and kept up to date. We reserve the right to edit, flag, or remove inaccurate or misleading listings.

3. Image and Content Ownership Requirements

By uploading content, you agree that:

You own all rights to the images, text, and media you upload OR have explicit permission to use them
You will not upload any content that violates copyright, trademark, or intellectual property laws
You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, display, and distribute your content on the platform

4. Prohibited Content

Business owners may NOT upload or publish:

Profanity or offensive language
Nudity or sexually explicit material
Graphic or violent content
Misleading, deceptive, or fraudulent information
Content that infringes on any third-party rights

We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts without notice for violations.

5. Listing Integrity and Fair Use

You agree not to:

Impersonate another business or entity
Claim listings you do not own or represent
Manipulate or misrepresent information to mislead visitors

Violation may result in permanent removal from the platform.

6. Account Responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and all activity conducted under it.

7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate listings or accounts at our discretion for violations of these Terms, including:

False or misleading information
Unauthorized listing claims
