Tracy Park

Tracy Park is one of the trailheads for the 109-mile George S. Mickelson Trail, situated along Spring Creek in Hill City and containing a large children's play area, a picnic shelter, charcoal grills, picnic tables, and restrooms — making it a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. The park sits at the southern end of Hill City's compact downtown, within easy walking distance of restaurants, galleries, the 1880 Train depot, and the South Dakota State Railroad Museum. It's the kind of park that rewards a casual stop — shaded by mature trees along the creek, with enough space for kids to run while adults relax at the picnic tables. For cyclists and hikers, Tracy Park serves as the most convenient in-town access point for the Mickelson Trail, which stretches 109 miles from Deadwood south to Edgemont. From here, riders can head north toward Custer or south through the pine-covered hills toward Pringle and beyond. The bridge from the parking lot to the playground crosses Spring Creek and is a favorite photo stop for families.
