Spearfish City Park

A lush 40-acre space that serves as a gathering point for families, joggers, and visitors alike, Spearfish City Park is the community's beating heart — with picnic shelters, open lawns, and playgrounds all connected to the scenic Spearfish Rec Path. Spearfish Creek runs along the backside of the park, offering a natural swimming hole for wading, fishing, and tubing on hot summer days. The creek holds some of the finest wild rainbow and brown trout in the Black Hills — bring a rod. Adjacent to the park, the D.C. Booth Historic National Fish Hatchery — one of the oldest operating hatcheries in the country — invites visitors to feed the fish and ducks, walk the trails, and explore historic buildings and displays. Summer evenings bring live music. Wednesday evening Canyon Acoustics concerts take place during the summer months at the McClung Bandshell — one of the most popular free events in the northern Black Hills. The Spearfish Rec Path connects directly through the park, giving easy access to 7.5 miles of paved creekside trail linking parks throughout the city.
