Skyline Drive

One of Rapid City's most rewarding free experiences, Skyline Drive winds two miles along a hogback ridge on the western edge of the city, delivering sweeping panoramic views in every direction. Cruising high above the city, you'll enjoy beautiful views to the east and west, encounter the life-sized concrete dinosaurs of Dinosaur Park, and find trailheads leading into the Skyline Wilderness Area. The 150-acre Skyline Wilderness Area features six trailheads with hiking and biking trails ranging from 3 to 6 miles, with elevation gains up to 891 feet. Along the way, watch for historic stops including the Stonewall Overlook, Hangman's Tree, and the Petrified Forest Trailhead. On a clear day, you can spot Badlands formations to the east and Black Elk Peak to the west. The sunset views are spectacular!
