Sioux Park

Extensive recreation area with sports fields, tennis courts, a swimming pool, and a formal garden.

About

Sioux Park stretches across 210 acres on the west side of the city along the banks of Rapid Creek. The park is a year-round destination packed with something for everyone — from serious athletes to families just looking for a place to spread out and relax. Sports lovers will find plenty to keep them busy, with soccer fields, a full-size football field and track, and basketball courts. When the action slows down, the park's picnic areas, flower gardens, and the beautiful William Noordermeer Formal Gardens offer a peaceful place to unwind. The park connects directly to Rapid City's bike path, which follows Rapid Creek for roughly 10 miles across the city — making Sioux Park a perfect starting point for a scenic ride or run. Kids love the updated playground with its cushioned turf surface and zip line, and the shallow sections of Rapid Creek are a favorite cool-off spot on hot summer days. The local amphitheater hosts concerts and community events throughout the season.
