Reuters Motorized Trailhead

Tucked just a few miles northwest of Sundance, Wyoming, the Reuter Trailhead is one of the most versatile access points in the Bearlodge District of Black Hills National Forest — and one of the least crowded. The trailhead provides immediate access to the Carson Draw Trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and Nordic skiing, and serves as an alternative parking area for OHV riders heading to the Ogden Creek Trail system. In winter, it's the primary trailhead for 67 miles of snowmobile trails that travel up Warren Peak Highway through the Bearlodge Mountains. A day hike to Warren Peak Lookout Tower (a historic fire tower with panoramic views) is one of the most popular routes from this trailhead, and the surrounding forest offers excellent wildlife viewing with elk, deer, turkey, and cliff swallows commonly spotted. From Sundance (I-90 Exit 185), travel northwest on US-14 for approximately 0.9 miles to NFSR 838, then turn north and continue 2.7 miles to the trailhead on the left, immediately west of Reuter Campground.
