Piedmont Trailhead

Piedmont Trailhead is located just west of Piedmont, South Dakota, about 20 minutes northwest of Rapid City, and serves as a northern access point to the Little Elk Creek Trail. From here, hikers and bikers can explore routes ranging from 6 to 12 miles, depending on direction and turnaround point. The trail is considered moderate and winds through pine forest, open meadows, and along sections of Little Elk Creek. This area is especially popular for mountain biking but also offers great hiking and trail running opportunities. With its convenient location and access to longer routes, Piedmont Trailhead is a great starting point for exploring the northern Black Hills.
