Welcome to Hot Springs mural on University Avenue in South Dakota.

Mural Walking Tour

A free, self-guided mural walk through Hot Springs' sandstone downtown — art and history combined.

About

The exterior walls of businesses and buildings in Hot Springs' historic district have become canvases for local and regional artists, with murals depicting pictorial representations of Fall River County history . The heart of the tour runs along River and Chicago Streets where most of the murals are painted on historic sandstone buildings. River Street has been renovated to include a hanging sidewalk over Fall River that parallels the Freedom Trail for several blocks, making the walk itself as scenic as the art along the way. On University Avenue, a pair of murals welcome visitors arriving into town. The side of the American Legion building pays tribute to the men and women who served from Fall River County. Other murals can be found at: Silk Road Experience, The Police Department, Fall River Fibers, Fall River Thrift, and Ace Hardware. The tour is self-guided, free, and walkable in under an hour.
