Manuel Brothers Park

Manuel Brothers Park is named after the gold miners who first staked the Homestake gold claim in 1876, and sits near Lead's famous Open Cut Mine, one of the most dramatic geological features in the Black Hills. The park is the anchor of community life in Lead, hosting everything from summer splash pad days to winter bonfires. Amenities include a large playground, picnic tables, a splash pad, a basketball court, pickleball courts, a skateboard park, a tennis court, a horseshoe area, charcoal grills, and a large open grass field for pickup games and kite flying. The splash pad runs free to the public from Memorial Day to Labor Day, with separate sections for toddlers and older visitors, operating on a user-activated timer. Hand-picked local boulders are placed throughout the park, bringing a distinctly Black Hills character to the space, and an adjacent seat wall of locally sourced rock provides a comfortable spot for parents and caregivers.
