Main Street Square
About
Main Street Square opened in 2011 as Rapid City's central public gathering place, built to give downtown a defining landmark and year-round destination for residents and visitors alike. It's surrounded by boutique shops, restaurants, galleries, and the life-size bronze presidential statues of the City of Presidents walking tour.
In summer, interactive fountains serve as a splash pad and cooling spot for families, and the square hosts around 150 events a year — from live concerts and festivals to yoga classes and farmers markets. Thursdays on the Square is a weekly summer concert series drawing locals and visitors alike with live music, food, and cold drinks every Thursday evening.
In winter, Main Street Square transforms into the region's only maintained outdoor ice rink with real ice, with skate rentals available on site. Skating beneath the holiday Christmas tree has become a cherished Rapid City tradition. Check mainstreetsquare.com for the current event calendar.
