Sheridan Lake: Calumet Trailhead
About
Calumet Trailhead sits on the south side of Sheridan Lake, reached through the Sheridan Lake Campground near the south boat launch, about 15 miles southwest of Rapid City.
It's one of the main access points to two of the central Black Hills' best-loved routes: the historic Flume Trail (#50), which follows the route of an 1880s mining flume, and the 111-mile Centennial Trail (#89), which runs the length of the Hills from Bear Butte to Wind Cave.
From here you can put together everything from an easy lakeside walk to a long-haul trek. Parking, campground facilities, and lake access are all on site.
