Buckhorn Snowmobile Trailhead

Buckhorn Snowmobile Trailhead provides direct access to snowmobile Trail 3 and is the closest trailhead for riders coming from Newcastle, Wyoming, located 23.3 miles north of Newcastle on US Highway 85. The trailhead connects riders to a network of trails spreading across eastern Wyoming and western South Dakota. The Black Hills Snowmobile Trail System spans the 1.2-million-acre National Forest, with Weston County's access point running 40 miles of groomed trail through northeast Wyoming before linking to 295 miles of trail in South Dakota. The trailhead is privately owned, so visitors should respect private property by remaining on roads, parking lots, and designated trails and packing out everything they bring in. Services and fuel are available in Newcastle to the south and Sundance to the north. Trails are open December 15 through March 31.
