Bridal Veil Falls

Bridal Veil Falls is one of the most beloved and easily visited natural landmarks along the stunning Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway (US Highway 14A) in the northern Black Hills of South Dakota. The falls earn their poetic name from the way water cascades approximately 60 feet down a sheer limestone cliff face, spreading thin and delicate as it falls, like lace trailing over ancient stone. A dedicated wooden viewing platform positioned right alongside the highway makes this a true roadside gem, requiring no hiking and offering an excellent vantage point for photos and quiet reflection. Located about 5.8 miles south of the northern entrance to Spearfish Canyon, it's a natural and effortless stop on any scenic drive through the canyon. Spring is the showstopper season, when snowmelt swells the falls to their full, dramatic glory. In winter, the falls transform into a glittering column of ice that draws experienced ice climbers from across the region. Mountain goats are occasionally spotted on the surrounding canyon walls, adding an extra thrill for wildlife watchers.
