Blacktail Motorized Trailhead
About
Blacktail Motorized Trailhead is a major OHV access point in the Bearlodge Ranger District, serving as the primary gateway to dozens of miles of off-highway vehicle trails west of Cook Lake. Located in the northern Black Hills near Hulett and Sundance, Wyoming, this trailhead provides access to an extensive network of motorized routes, including some of the most challenging trails on the district.
Trails are open to OHVs 50 inches wide or less, making this a popular starting point for riders looking for a rugged and more advanced off-road experience. The area is also popular with hunters in the fall and is known for strong hunting opportunities. Blacktail Trailhead is a practical launch point for day-use recreation, but visitors should plan ahead since restrooms and potable water are not available on site.
